Faith Jenkins, an eighth grader at La Conner Middle School, sprinted into history this weekend by winning the Washington State 2B 100-meter title with an electrifying time of 12.42 seconds! Faith also placed second in the 200 meters and anchored both the runner-up 4×100 and 4×200 relays, alongside teammates Kiana Jenkins, Nora McCormick, and Maeve McCormick. These powerhouse relays not only medaled but also shattered school records in both events! With Faith’s incredible performance, La Conner continues its tradition of excellence, having won four consecutive years with a state track champion.
But it all came down to the final event, the pole vault, for a chance to bring home a team trophy. In a clutch performance, Maeve McCormick cleared a personal best of 9’9” to take third place, securing the points needed for the Braves girls to clinch fourth overall in the state and bring home some well-earned hardware, a tremendous accomplishment with talent spanning from eighth grade to junior year.
On the boys’ team, Flint Huizenga and Alex Dowry achieved personal bests in the javelin, shot put, and discus. The boys’ 4×100 relay team capped the meet with a season-best time of 44.91.
Congratulations to all our Brave athletes, coaches, and families who supported them. We are so proud of your dedication, teamwork, and heart!
