students at the 33rd MoNA Art Auction

Ms. Stacy Silver’s 4th and 5th grade students recently stepped beyond the classroom for a memorable walking field trip through the heart of our town, visiting both the Museum of Northwest Art (MoNA) and the Skagit County Historical Society Museum.

At MoNA, students explored the rich legacy of the Northwest School art movement, experiencing the creativity that helped define our region's artistic identity in the mid-20th century. Founded in 1981 by Art Hupy, this museum continues to celebrate the power of local expression and imagination.

Just up the hill, students stepped into the stories of our past at the Skagit County Historical Society Museum. From early settler life to the vibrant history of our valley, the museum brought our local heritage to life, connecting our learners to the people and places who came before them.

We are so fortunate to have these incredible cultural treasures in our own backyard. Thank you to the dedicated staff and volunteers at both museums for making learning come alive and to Ms. Silver for inspiring curiosity and connection in every student.
