FAQ for Community Service:
HOW MANY HOURS DO I NEED? - Every student is asked to complete a MINIMUM of 10 hours of community service each year. Forty hours are required for graduation.
I’M A TRANSFER STUDENT. DO I NEED TO GET EXTRA HOURS FOR THE YEARS BEFORE I CAME TO LCHS? No.
MAY I GIVE MORE THAN TEN HOURS A YEAR TO COMMUNITY SERVICE? - Yes, and I encourage you to do so. Community Service is an important consideration when you are being evaluated for college or career scholarships, admission to post-high school programs or jobs.
MAY I “BANK” HOURS FROM ONE YEAR TO THE NEXT? Yes. If you earn more than ten hours in one year, the extra hours may be added to the next year.
WHAT ABOUT POLITICAL HOURS? - Political hours are a different requirement. Each student is required to earn a minimum of ten political hours as an LCHS graduation requirement. Generally, those hours are earned during the senior year.
