Welcome New Staff to La Conner District for the 2018-19 Academic Year!

AMBER FLECK will be serving as an elementary paraeducator. She has a daughter in the district and worked most recently with an alternative program with Oak Harbor School district that served homeschool students.

ALEXA FUENTES will be serving as a 1-1 paraeducator in the elementary school. She comes to us from out of state and has experience with preschool and kindergarten students, recreation, and in serving high needs students.

KELLY GILKEY, a La Conner graduate, will be joining us as a preschool teacher. She’ll have the 4-5-year-old classroom. For the last two years, she was with us as the preschool AmeriCorps Service Member.

CAITLIN GONSALVES will be our new K-1 teacher in the elementary (making 5 classrooms for those two grade levels). She comes to us from Illinois where she taught in early childhood education. She is a graduate of WSU.

KATHY HERRERA is our new assistant principal in grades 5-12 and our athletic director. She comes to us from Ignacio, Colorado. (See the article by Todd Torgeson for more information.)

MARY HOUBEN will serve as a fiscal assistant in the district office building, replacing Joanne Carrigan who retired. Mary comes to us with experience overseas (Haiti and Greece), and multiple aspects of business and manufacturing.

CRISTA LANDWORTH will serve middle school special education students and secondary life skills students. A La Conner graduate herself, Crista comes to us from the Oak Harbor school district. If you have a middle school special education student she will be the case manager for his/her IEP and special education services.

ANNA MCCOY will be serving as an elementary paraeducator. She has two children in the district and has extensive experience in retail.

GALEN MCKNIGHT will be teaching middle school math this year. A La Conner graduate also, he has been a coach, substitute, and a leave replacement teacher with La Conner already. (See the article by Todd Torgeson for more information.)

ELIZABETH SMITH will be joining us as our Preschool AmeriCorps service member. She comes to us with extensive experience overseas (Guatemala, Palau, Belgium) and as a teacher with multiple ages and subjects.
