    Important Message From

    November 5, 2020

    Dear La Conner Families,

It is hard to believe we are at the end of our first quarter!  The last day of the first quarter is tomorrow, Friday, November 6th.  Final grades will be recorded on the transcripts for a few classes that are only a quarter in length. They are:

    • Freshman Academy
    • Construction
    • Academic Lab
    • Lifetime Fitness
    • Technical Art
    • Civics
    • World Geography

If your child has any of these classes, it is imperative that they turn in any missing work by Sunday, November 8th at 11:59 pm.  On Monday, November 9th, we will begin our second quarter. If your child’s class is not listed above, their grades will continue to be accumulated through January 29, 2021.  If your child is struggling with assignments or organization skills, please have them contact their Advisory teacher.  Every high school teacher has 19 hours of Office Hours embedded into their week. Students can arrange to meet with their teachers for assistance during this time.

We have recently had some issues with students logging into their Zoom classes under personal emails and not identifying themselves correctly in class.  There has been a situation where someone logged in and changed their name to a student in the class and showed an inappropriate picture on as their screen. The teacher was able to shut the Zoom down quickly. Every class has a waiting room where the teacher verifies that the student is in the class before allowing them to enter. Due to these recent Zoom issues, we have been working with our regional Educational Service Department to try and resolve issues of students misrepresenting themselves.   All high school students were sent an email this week with instructions on how to log into Zoom with their La Conner email addresses. All teachers are going to discuss the Zoom room log in during Advisory class this morning.  Going forward from this point, the only way students will be allowed to enter a Zoom room, will be if they are logged in with their school email address.

Our goal is to maintain a secure and safe learning environment for all students.  If you have any questions about logging into the Zoom or your child did not receive an invite from Zoom to log in, please send an email to Ryan Hiller at rhiller@lc.k12.wa.us. Also, if your child needs assistance, please encourage them to reach out to their teachers.

I hope you all have a wonderful day!
