TRY THIS SATISFYING SNACK AFTER SCHOOL
MONDAY - COLD WHOLE GRAIN CEREAL OR HOT OATMEAL, 1 CUP FRUIT, 8 OUNCE MILK.
TUESDAY - SAUSAGE AND WHOLE GRAIN ENGLISH MUFFIN, 1 CUP FRUIT, 8 OUNCE MILK.
WEDNESDAY - WHOLE GRAIN BREAKFAST BURRITO, 1 CUP FRUIT, 8 OUNCE MILK.
THURSDAY - WHOLE GRAIN WAFFLES, 1 CUP FRUIT, 8 OUNCE MILK.
FRIDAY - WHOLE GRAIN BREAKFAST ROLLS, 1 CUP FRUIT, 8 OUNCE MILK.
Take one piece of whole grain bread, press down until bread is very flat. Spread with 2 T. of peanut butter or cream cheese or both, sprinkle with chopped dried fruits and nuts, or sunflower seeds, your child's favorite, of course, 1 teaspoon of mini chocolate chips. Carefully roll up bread, and slice into four or five 1 inch rounds, wrap in plastic and keep in the refrigerator until the kids come home.
A 2 ounce serving of carrots supplies 234% of our daily Vitamin A needs plus some good fiber.
One half cup of green beans gives us 15% of our daily Vitamin C needs.
One third cup of re-fried pinto beans provides about 10% of your Iron needs and Yes! more fiber.
One third cup pineapple provides40% of the vitamin C we need and also some copper and manganese.
