RETURNING TO SCHOOL FEBRUARY 2021
Middle School - We are planning to begin in-person learning (also known as hybrid learning) for grades 6-8 on March 1st. In order to plan appropriately for a smooth transition, we need to know how many students will be coming into the building for in-person learning, and how many students will continue with remote learning. Grades 6-8, please complete the survey by noon (12:00 PM) on FRIDAY, February 12.

TOPIC: Following brief presentations from those spearheading parts of the plan, attendees will have an opportunity to have a discussion with administrators about details of the plan. February 1st is our target date for bringing back our Kindergartners and 1st graders. Two weeks later, on February 16th, we’d like to bring back 2nd and 3rd graders, with 4th and 5th graders returning the following week. These dates are tentative because, as we’ve all experienced, COVID is not predictable. Staff is working hard to develop a plan to bring our secondary students back to campus. We are watching our county case numbers very carefully.
Andy Wheeler created a short (5 minute) video you can learn the beginnings of La Conner School District's plan to return to school under a hybrid model.
La Conner Returning to School Video #1 - January 12, 2021
Elementary Principal Heather Fakkema explains what the new Hybrid Learning Model for Returning to School will look like. You may have heard by now that we are preparing to bring students back into the building. Very soon, parents will be asked to make a decision about whether or not you would like your child to transition to the hybrid model or continue to learn remotely. Fakkema's letter outlines some details to help you make that decision.
