I’m sorry if it seems like we are unable to get in a rhythm with these packets. Every time the teachers meet, we are told to do something different. We will now be sending packets out each week starting May 15th. These packets are OPTIONAL if your child is working on the electronic platforms such as MobyMax, Readworks, and RAZ Kids.I’m trying to supply learning materials in both electronic and pen and paper format. I am putting many options out there so students have choices and will hopefully be more engaged.
The packets that went home on Friday (5/1) were the continuation of the Fraction unit that was started earlier in April. Some new reading activities were included. A Scholastic News magazine was thrown in for fun. Students can access more content related to the Scholastic News Magazine at this website. Scholastic News Magazines are totally OPTIONAL!
I’m adding a new page to my School District Web Page called, “Let’s Connect!”. It’s a page where I’ll post pictures and videos that my students have sent me. For instance, several weeks ago I sent out a link to a Youtube video of Science Experiments kids can do at home. One of my students did an experiments and video taped it! See Elliott’s video on this new page. I’d love to post pictures of my kiddos and their pets or any fun activities they are doing. I will just require parent permission by email or text to post the media on line. I can’t wait to see what gets shared! Look for my video on there as well.
We continue to have Zoom meetings on Tuesdays at 1:00 for the entire 3rd Grade hosted by Ms. Erica and again on Thursday at 3:00 for just our class. We’d love to have more people show up. Scarlett and I are out numbered by the boys so come on girls, show up and visit with us! I don’t think it works on our school laptops so you might have to use a phone or your own technology. These meetings are totally optional. Students can come to either. It’s just a way for us to stay connected. For this week’s Thursday focus I’d love students to be able to say/sing some of their multiplication tables! The fourth grade teachers will be so happy if the third graders can memorize their facts for next year.

If you are tired of reading the same books let me know and I can hook you up with some new ones! If you have books that are no longer serving you please pass them onto the school and we will clean them and store them until they are safe to hand out to other students. I’m still checking AR points so if students take tests online their points are still accumulating!
It seems as though most people who asked for a laptop have at least one in their home to work on. If this hasn’t happened for you yet, contact me. Please know that I see how hard you are working to do what’s best for your family at this time. Students only need to do an hour’s worth of work each day. If you break it down into 2 or 3 chunks it will go even faster! Take care- Mrs. B.
