Foster Care

  • La Conner School District recognizes that students in foster care may experience mobility which would be detrimental to their academic progress. In an attempt to eliminate these barriers to academic success and on-time graduation, La Conner schools will collaborate with state, local, and/or tribal child welfare agencies to minimize or eliminate educational barriers for students in out-of-home care. Please direct your questions about supporting foster students to the district's foster care liaison, Will Nelson (360)466-3171.

Should a dispute arise in the best interests of the student, the district will follow the state's foster dispute resolution process here.

For more information, you can find the state's web page on supporting students in foster care here within the OSPI site.
