• FAQ FOR COMMUNITY SERVICE

     

    HOW MANY HOURS DO I NEED?

    Every student is asked to complete a MINIMUM of 10 hours of community service each year.

    Forty hours are required for graduation.

     

    I’M A TRANSFER STUDENT. DO I NEED TO GET EXTRA HOURS FOR THE YEARS BEFORE I CAME TO LCHS?

    No.

     

    MAY I GIVE MORE THAN TEN HOURS A YEAR TO COMMUNITY SERVICE?

    Yes, and YOU ARE ENOURAGED to do so. Community Service is an important consideration when you are being evaluated for college or career scholarships, admission to post high school programs or jobs.

     

    MAY I “BANK” HOURS FROM ONE YEAR TO THE NEXT?

    Yes. If you earn more than ten hours in one year, the extra hours may be added to the next year.

     

    WHAT ABOUT POLITICAL HOURS?

    Political hours are a different requirement. Each student is required to earn a minimum of ten political hours as a LCHS graduation requirement. Generally, those hours are earned during senior year.

     

    HOW DO I RECORD MY COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS?

    1. Pick up C.S. Log form in the office
    2. Perform C.S. and have it signed by an adult at the event if possible.
    3. If an event adult is not able to sign your form, ask a parent or guardian to do so.
    4. Submit the form to Mrs. Pierson in the office. You may choose to wait and submit the form when all of the CS hours are complete, OR you may submit the form each time you complete hours and pick up a new one to record the next service.
